Second West Town Public Consultation – Launches 3 November 2022
Follow-up Event Showcases Homes-led Neighbourhood Proposals for 205-acre West Edinburgh Site
Read moreWest Town is an ambitious vision for a new neighbourhood to be built on a 205-acre site located between Ingliston Park & Ride and the Gogar Roundabout, to the west of Edinburgh.
The projected development follows guidelines set out by the proposed Edinburgh City Plan 2030 and presents the opportunity to meet the housing needs of the nation’s Capital whilst delivering a significant and sustainable urban expansion for the city.
West Town has been highlighted by the proposed Edinburgh City Plan as an essential part of the vision for west Edinburgh to become a “vibrant, high-density mixed-use extension to the city with a focus on place-making, sustainability, connectivity and biodiversity.”
The proposals are to create a mixed-use development as part of a homes-led town centre neighbourhood for the 205-acre site – as well as providing the employment, commercial and community amenity and facilities required for a 20-minute neighbourhood.
West Town Edinburgh Ltd was formed in April 2021 by Drum Property Group to progress development of the 205-acre West Town site in west Edinburgh – widely regarded as one of the most strategically important development areas in Scotland.
West Town Edinburgh Ltd has submitted Proposal of Application Notices (PoANs) to the City of Edinburgh Council for a new homes-led town centre neighbourhood for the 205-acre West Town site, located between Ingliston Park & Ride and the Gogar Roundabout. The PoANs are issued in advance of any public consultation and subsequent planning applications and give an outline intention of West Town Limited’s plan for the site and how local community consultation will be managed.
A second consultation was conducted between 3 and 24 November - including a public event on Thursday 3 November. We would like to thank all those who visited our live exhibition and website and completed feedback forms. This phase of the consultation is now closed. A previous online consultation event was held earlier this year, between 12 May and 3 June.
We were very pleased with the level of engagement generated by both our public consultations which provided valuable community feedback to help influence future planning decisions.
